Understanding odds is the first step to successful betting. Below is a simple explanation of three formats: decimal, fractional and American.
Decimal Odds
Decimal odds are the simplest format and the most widely used in Asia and Europe. To calculate your total return, multiply your stake by the odds.
Example: You place a ৳500 bet at odds of 1.80.
Total return = ৳500 × 1.80 = ৳900
Profit = ৳900 − ৳500 = ৳400
Implied probability: Odds of 1.80 mean the bookmaker estimates the event has roughly a 55.6% chance of occurring (1 ÷ 1.80 × 100).
Fractional Odds
Popular in Britain. 4/1 means ৳400 profit on a ৳100 bet, plus your ৳100 back. On a ৳500 bet: profit ৳2,000, total return ৳2,500.
American Odds (Moneyline)
+180 means ৳180 profit on a ৳100 bet. −150 means ৳100 profit on a ৳150 bet. A minus sign indicates the favourite.
